One day, I sat on a public toilet cubicle in Germany and have stumbled upon an anonymously made graffiti on the wall which says “ if you have a good idea, lead. If you heard a good idea, follow. If you don't have or hear a good idea, don't let yourself bother the others.” . Ever since my first sight on the sentences, the quotation keep bothering in my mind- in a good way. This is a faintest yet simplest idea to say that it doesn't take a pure genious to lead, but it takes endurance and creativity. Endurance and creativity are my area of exercise for being a good leader.
I have dedicated my life sufficiently to various organizations and been serving in different occasions and diverse positions. Throughout the experience, I have learned how it was to be a conceptor, to be a middle-man and to do the “dirty works”. Each occasion portray a joy on its own. This semester, I chair, at least three different divisions in three different students organizations and concepting one national pilot project for Civil Society Organizations (CSO) movement and its exhibitions around campus. Arguably, this labeled me as a leader because of my position but however this is too much of works for one self to carry on. But I found a terrific transformation within myself in the matter of conceptualizing a leader within me. I found myself inexplicably dazzled by the assignment of arranging an essay to finally conclude a statement of whether or not I am a leader. Yet, I dare myself to boldly claim that one attempt in analyzing oneself within the epilogue and emphasizing that this journey of finding a self is neither instant nor obviously shown. So I have to make my position clear and feed the readers with the statement that being a leader and determining position of a leader is rather a non stop exploration in a lifetime.
For this specific exploration, I ponder to a particular experience in life where I used to enjoy the role of being “behind-the-screen” typical of person. I like conceptualizing a program with less interest of really leading others. However, my following story had changed the way I perceive myself and rather has allowed myself to think outside the box that I used to be entrapped in: that it is important to let myself appreciate my inner ability to lead others and put all of my faith in there.
Last year, me and some friends who involve in the committee of freshmen orientation for international relations were speaking of creating an event to increase participants understanding to what international relations is really all about. I came up with the idea of creating TKHI 2009 Model of United Nations (TKHI MUN) : Overcoming Food Shortages, a conference that stimulates action and negotiation on behalf of a country
For the 20 years of my life, I sometimes ask to myself, what is a true definition of a leader?. I always wonder if I can have my own template of being a leader, without pasting someone’s path. I bet it would be wonderful to have a role model or mentor that we can always refer to. But that would be less challenging. The world is waiting for another template of leader, extraordinary and never been existed before. I am wandering for this model and hopefully my path of carreer would engender a new model of leader inside of me. For me, I am a leader with a personal touch and customized style. I learn from my predecessors but I want a full authority of what I am doing and not being compared to others.

Hello rainintha!
your essay is quite interesting for me.You mentioned in the beginning that you "have dedicated my life sufficiently to various organizations and been serving in different occasions and diverse positions".Considering from you experiences doing many things not far from 'support group and helps make things happen' concept,I have no doubt that you've been successfully maintain your self as a young eligibility leader,in every way of the leader definition,I mean come on,in your age, you've done many good things, for instance, getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.That's exactly why many people have assigned you become their leader.I just can say blow the trumpet and be the leader in your own definition.Best regard.
