The geek in me

woohoo. thats me and my bloc position on the recent AMUNC 2010 trying to draft working papers regarding Preventive Diplomacy. We begin to enhance the role of non-state actors e.g think tank and civil societies to generate recommendation to be given to the high council of ASEAN Regional Forum.

I might be categorized as a newbie in Model United Nations. Model UN is one of my recently picked up new hobby. I began MUN in my sophomore year, quite later than average kids in US or India. MUN is a blend of my passion in public speaking, reading, writing and traveling. MUN is a simulation of real UN meeting with various smaller caucus played by students all over the world. Within the conference, participants are given topic or problem that needs to be addressed during the whole conference.

I might want to work for the UN, both as diplomat or serve in UN subsidiary body. This consideration based on my decision to refrain myself from working in one place only and prefer to travel for working, and visit people.

The UN itself in the real life, is arguably the only and largest organization that is able to embrace all countries around the world. It appears to promote peace and prevent subsequent World War to happen. Woodrow Wilson might never imagine how his raw idea regarding League of Nations have now transformed into a big organization. Yet some are questioning the effectivity of UN. I sometimes do. I wont fully claim that I adore United Nations. As a political tool, UN might be worthless. But as organization that delivers welfare and economical stability, UN protects well and in on its way to improve its services.

Post World War II, we began to see the broadening issue of social and economic to be talking inside the organization. Whereas during the Cold War, much of security issue dominated the assembly
.
My involvement with MDGs Campaign in Germany. This happened to be the World Cafe Parade for international students festival that I attended.
